Apart from extending their sincerest sympathy to the friends, family, and followers of Bro. Eli, the members of the NPCP also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Filipino preacher: “The Club forever owes a debt of gratitude to Bro. Eli for his congregation’s silent but steadfast support to its many programs over the years.”
The Members Church of God International (MCGI), the Philippine-based religious group spearheaded by Bro. Eli, is an active partner of the NPCP in its charitable endeavors, including the Club’s Scholarship Program and regular medical missions.

“Unknown to many, it was MCGI which helped jumpstart the Club’s ‘scholarship program’ more than a decade ago that today has helped hundreds of its members and their children to finish their college education,” the statement said.
The Club also noted the contribution of UNTV News and Rescue in the continuing struggle to attain justice for the victims of the 2009 Maguindanao Massacre that took the lives of 58 individuals, including 32 journalists, four of whom were part of UNTV.
UNTV is the television network where Bro. Eli Soriano’s programs, including the country’s longest-running religious program Ang Dating Daan (The Old Path) are regularly aired. UNTV’s content provider, Breakthrough and Milestones Productions International (BMPI), on the other hand, is headed by The Old Path co-host Bro. Daniel Razon.
NPCP also highlighted Bro. Eli’s magnanimity and humility, saying that “the sole condition binding this strong partnership between the Club and MCGI through the years is that we should not brag nor publicize it.”
NPCP’s statement concluded:
“In recognition for all the good deeds that Bro. Eli has done to his fellow men, including the members of the press, and for his being a true and faithful servant of God, this SPECIAL RESOLUTION is hereby unanimously approved.”
Incorporated in October 1952, NPCP is a professional and social organization of journalists in the Philippines that conducts activities directed towards the improvement of journalism practice in the country.
