International Evangelist Bro. Eli Soriano commended UNTV, dubbed as The Public Service Channel, for launching UNTV Cup, which recently closed its Season 2 Finals at the Araneta Coliseum last July 8, 2014.

UNTV Cup is the station’s way of involving government branches and departments through the game of basketball for charities. This is also part of UNTV’s continuing efforts to help the indigents in the country and abroad.
Bro. Eli also praised the support of all the participating teams of UNTV Cup, saying their playing for the charitable basketball tournament is taking part in a noble cause.
A Worthy Pursuit
While others do good for mere publicity, sincerely doing good must be continuous and sustained, stressed the Ang Dating Daan host through video streaming. “There are those who do good on occasion, only for advertisement.”
“I believe that playing is your [UNTV Cup players] part to do good; and may the Lord bless you,” Bro. Eli said before the attendees of the UNTV Cup Finals last July 1.
Bro. Eli congratulated teams AFP and PNP which played on the finals of the UNTV Cup tournament, and all the teams that played this season.
In support for the cause of the league, Bro. Eli has donated an additional P500,000 for the champion team, increasing the original championship pot prize of P1 Million to P1.5 Million for the chosen charities.
First-runner up winner prize has also received an additional increase, after UNTV VP for Operations Gerry Panghulan donated P150,000.
Playing Sports for A Good Cause
At the end of the best-of-three game series, the AFP Cavaliers emerged the Finals’ champion after pulling a one-point advantage over the PNP Responders on a do-or-die game last July 8.
The charitable groups selected by both teams, however, are real winners since cash prizes will proceed directly to their chosen beneficiaries.

The champion AFP Cavaliers gets the P1.5 Million pot money which they will give to the AFP Educational Benefit System Office. First runner up Team PNP will give their P650,000 prize to Mabuhay Shriners.
Public Service Partnership
A constant partner of the causes of UNTV is the Members Church of God International (MCGI), the religious group where Bro. Eli is the Presiding Minister to.
Through the years, their partnership has spanned several outreaches that include offering of free clinic consultations, medical missions in various parts of the country, free legal consultations, and free rides on a daily basis.
For its part, MCGI’s free college education and transient home projects has UNTV as their media partner.
Bro. Eli assured UNTV that the MCGI will always be supportive of UNTV’s public service projects, with God’s help. As a congregation, the preacher said these people are “zealous for good works”, quoting a biblical passage from the book of Titus.
