Why does God created the worthless in society? It is because God wants people to learn to love even the unlovable, said Bro. Eli Soriano during his previously-held Ang Dating Daan Worldwide Bible Exposition.
“Even if a person is worthless, he or she is important to God,” Bro. Eli said in response to a query by one of the attendees of the symposium where the televangelist is resource speaker last August 8, this year.
Bro. Eli added that these people – such as those with disabilities and poor – look worthless to the society; but all human beings are created by God.
In the Book of Exodus he read: “Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?”
God is a God of wisdom, He would not create anything which is of no use, the preacher said. “[The poor and persons with disabilities may seem] worthless to humans, but for God, they are valuable.”
Beside his speaking engagement during Bible Expositions, Bro. Eli Soriano is the host of the Ang Dating Daan religious program, which now has multiple language counterparts such as The Old Path in English, El Camino Antiguo in Spanish, and O Caminho Antigo in Portuguese.
What is the value of helping these people? Bro. Eli explains that when you love, for instance the blind people, helping them would mean your salvation. “By showing mercy to the disabled and being affectionate toward persons with disabilities, God becomes indebted to you.”
To prove his point, he read a passage in Proverbs that says, “He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.”
“God will pay you for all the kindness you showed to the poor, the pitiful, [and] the worthless,” said the preacher. “God put people who are worthless in the society, for us to learn to love [and] to have mercy.”
Christ Selected the Unworthy
According to the preacher, even in choosing his apostles, Christ did not call those who are valued by the society. Instead He selected many which are uneducated and poor.
“Many disciples of Christ have livelihood problems, have nothing to eat, and are poor. Those [are whom] He had chosen,” Bro. Eli said.
The televangelist read in I Corinthians 1:26-28 that says, “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.”
‘I’m Worthless all the same’
Bro. Eli humbly added that he is himself unworthy and worthless.
“I’m not a lawyer, I’m not a doctor, I did not finish any high degree in school,” he told audience of his Bible Exposition. “My only accolade is that I was chosen by God to preach the true gospel.”
The next Bible Exposition of the Members Church of God International (MCGI) is scheduled on September 5, 2014.
